Bellone:
At one time, this white grape variety was
widely cultivated in Southern Lazio. Vineyards were wide spread
throughout the region: north to the hills of Rome, east to Frosinine,
and west to the Tyrrhenian Sea. Bellone grows best in areas having
dry, hilly, and impermeable terrain. It can be subject to grey rot.
A naturally delayed maturation and high sugar content gives wines
made from this grape their softness and aroma suggestive of loquats
and Delicious apples.
Moscato
of Terracina: Wines made from
this white aromatic grape variety are sweet, slightly sparkling,
and of remarkable aroma, but are almost always blended with Malvasia
di Candia and Greco giallo which negatively influence their quality.
Vineyard of this grape variety have need of a dry, well ventilated
and sunny clay and limestone terrain.
Abbuoto and Uva
vipera : These endemic red
wine varieties are particularly rare considering their limited area
of diffusion. They are currently still in phase of study.
